Salter 3007 Bakers Dream Aquatronic Kitchen Scale Review
Salter 3007 Bakers Dream Aquatronic Kitchen Scale
Are you tired of sifting around in your drawers and cupboards for measuring cups and having to switch out to different sized measuring cups for different ingredients in your recipes? Are you tired of having 3 or more different measuring cups to wash after you make just one recipe? Then the Salter 3007 Bakers Dream Aquatronic Kitchen Scale may be the scale you’ve been dreaming of.
With the Salter 3007 Bakers Dream Aquatronic Kitchen Scale you can turn any bowl, cup, or container into a measuring cup. Never again will you have to stress over where various family members have tucked away your measuring cups after they unloaded the dishwasher. Even better, with the Salter 3007 Bakers Dream Aquatronic Kitchen Scale you can measure all of your ingredients in the same container with the easy tare feature.
Here’s how it works. You simply place your container of choice on top of the weighing platform and then set the scale to zero. Now place your first ingredient in. When you’ve measured it correctly, hit the zero feature again. Then put your next ingredient in the container and do the same. You can weigh as many ingredients as necessary this way.
The Salter 3007 also has the Aquatronic feature. With the Aquatronic feature you can measure a liquid and a solid in the same container with the touch of a button. How sweet is that? Simply put your dry or liquid ingredients into your container of choice and then use the special conversions button to switch from pound and ounce measurements to liquid ounces measurements. The Salter 3007 Bakers Dream Aquatronic Kitchen Scale even measures in kilograms and millimeters.

I’ve had this scale for about 3 years, and it’s worked fine, and seems fairly accurate. My biggest problem (and the reason for the 3-star rating) is that, when measuring in ounces, it’s only accurate to a quarter of an ounce. For most things this is fine, but I’ve run into some situations (particularly when measuring small amounts of things like baking powder/soda or salt) when accuracy down to a tenth of an ounce (or less) would have been preferable. I love not having to bother with measuring cups any more, but with this scale you still have to break out the measuring spoons to measure small amounts.
Not really sure what “DeepFreeze3″ is referring to with respect to this scale being difficult to use. I’ve never had a problem reading the LED or pressing the buttons, all of which seem perfectly serviceable to me. Cleaning has never been an issue.

I’ve used this for over 2 years and haven’t had a bit of trouble. Works every time, and I use it every day.

Being that the Salter 3007 Aquatronic Kitchen Scale has an extremely non-ergonomic design, I found that cleanups were a MAJOR pain!! I also ended up hating how the LCD readout was over to the right, instead of at the front where it should’ve been (JEEZ!! All the times I had to spend bending my head sideways just to see what the measurement was!!) The buttons? I found that they had to be pressed more than two to three times just to even work!! And, finally, the measurements I ended up getting just weren’t that accurate.
Anybody thinking of getting this scale should instead go for the Salter 3003 Aquatronic Glass Kitchen Scale. It’s ergonomic design allows for easier cleanups, the LCD readout is at the front (where it should be), the buttons actually work the first time you press them, and measurements are much more accurate. Plus, it isn’t made of cheap plastic. It’s made of sturdy stainless steel.

I have had this scale for over two years and I didn’t used to have problems with it. I am finding I want a more accurate weight and not just rounding to the quarter ounce or 5 gram mark. I’ve got used to the readout on the side but it does take me leaning down low to look under a plate that I’m weighing with. What I’m finding extremely annoying now is that the scale keeps turning off when I’m in the middle of weighing things (battery indicator not showing low). Horrible when adding things directly into one bowl while using the tare feature. With the scale already rounding its weight, I am not able to get a close-to-true weight at all. I don’t really have a problem with cleaning the scale because I don’t put the things I’m weighing in direct contact with the scale. I always weigh with a bowl, plate, or piece of wax paper/plastic wrap covering the weighing area.

We’ve owned this scale for maybe five years, and it hasn’t let us down. The battery lasts a fairly long time, and while other reviews have pointed out that the side display can at times be awkward to see, it’s not something I’ve had a problem with. My wife and I do a lot of cooking in a very small kitchen, and the value of being able to stack this vertically with the cutting boards has been immeasurable. Not too hard to clean – a cotton bud (Q-Tip) helps get under the edge. All in all, a very loved item in our kitchen.
Love this scale but a mishap with liquids just rendered my measurement folio unuasble. Any ideas on how to get a replacement?
The scale comes with a 10 year warranty. I would call customer support to see what they can do about getting you a replacement.
